There isn't much to the story, really, but that's OK. To save the girl, Elise must venture into the shadowy realm she calls 'the Further' to battle Quinn's demon as well as her own. The cast of characters also includes Quinn's dad (Dermot Mulroney, coasting) and an old neighbor lady (Phyllis Applegate) whose senile mutterings, of course, turn out not to be crazy at all. The main plot centers on Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott), a doe-eyed teenager who attempts to make psychic contact with her recently deceased mother and instead draws the attentions of a demon-slash-ghost who takes the form of a decrepit old man wearing an antique respirator mask. That means fans get to see more of senior-citizen demon hunter Elise (Lin Shaye), who bought it in the first movie, as well as the bromantic-comedy duo of Specs and Tucker (Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson), who run a video blog site called Spectral Sightings and arrive late in the movie in a van reminiscent of the 'Ghostbusters'-mobile. 'Chapter 3' is actually a prequel to the original 'Insidious,' a breakout hit from 2010. They can't know the rules, so they will continue to do patently stupid things like putting down the flashlight and sticking their neck through a shattered window to see if that terrifying demon is still coming after them.

That mysterious noise? It's a sure sign something scary is going to appear - from the opposite direction.ДЄnd, most crucially, none of the characters can have ever watched a supernatural horror flick. There are a lot of rules for a supernatural horror flick like 'Insidious: Chapter 3.'
